28-Day Golden Peak Itinerary

  • Morning: Early morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu (weather permitting).

  • Arrival: Check into your hotel in Skardu.

  • Activities: Rest day to adjust to the altitude. Visit local sights such as Skardu Bazaar, Shangrila Resort, or the Skardu Fort.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Skardu.

  • Today the team will make final preparations gathering food, finalizing permits & organizing group gear before we depart early tomorrow.

  • Activities: Rest day to adjust to the altitude. Visit local sights such as Skardu Bazaar, Shangrila Resort, or the Skardu Fort.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Skardu.

  • Morning: Drive from Skardu to Arandu (7-8 hours).

  • Arrival: Arrive in Arandu, the departure point of our trek to base camp.

  • Activities: Organize gear and prepare for the trek ahead.

  • Overnight: Camp at Arandu.

  • Trek Distance: 14 km

  • Elevation Gain: 750 m (3,830 m)

  • Trek Details: Follow the Braldu River, gradually ascending and moving towards Khoburtse.

  • Overnight: Camp at Khoburtse.

Trek Details: Trek along Chocolugma glacier and fields filled with grass and wildflowers before ending at Balucho camp.

Overnight: Camp at Balucho.

Trek Details: Make our way to Spantik Base Camp where we will set up our camp for the coming expedition.

Trek Details: Over the course of 16 days, our focus will be on strategic preparations for the summit push. We will conduct multiple rotations up the mountain, weather permitting, to acclimatize and assess our readiness for the final ascent. This gradual approach ensures we are well-prepared for the summit challenge.

Overnight: Camping at Spantik Base Camp or on the mountain itself during rotation phases, allowing us to adjust to the altitude and terrain before the final push.

  • Elevation: 3,820 m

  • Trek Details: Today we will depart base camp and start our journey back towards Skardu. We will trek to Balucho and spend the night there.

  • Overnight: Camp at Balucho.

  • Elevation: 2,720 m

  • Trek Details: Make our way from Balucho back to Arandu where we started our trek weeks earlier. Spend one last night in the mountains before we make our way back to Skardu early tomorrow morning.

  • Overnight: Camp at Arandu

  • Trek Details: Today we will depart early by Jeep making our way back to Skardu for a well deserved hot shower.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Skardu

  • Morning: Fly from Skardu to Islamabad

  • Arrival: Check into group hotel in Islamabad.

  • Activities: Rest and recuperate after the climb. Take time to savor the experience, explore more or perhaps enjoy a coffee at one of Islamabad’s nice cafes. We’ll have our final group dinner tonight celebrating what we have just accomplished. Note, in case of flight cancellation (rare but possible)  we will drive the scenic KKH over Babusar Pass and make our way to Islamabad.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Islamabad or on the road to Islamabad.

  • Activities: There are no activities planned for the day. Checkout before noon from the hotel. We encourage guests to book flights for that evening given the unpredictable nature of the Skardu to Islamabad flight.

  • Departure: Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your departure.
