The little spoken about heroes of any expedition in Pakistan. These men carry 25 kilograms on their backs often in plastic barrels so we are able to enjoy the mountains. When summits happen, they enable them. When expeditions happen, they are the reason you have gear and supplies when you need them most. While clients pay thousands of dollars and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars, these men are lucky to make $200 for an entire multi week expedition — less than the cost of the jacket you are wearing. Something needs to change. These men deserve not just the proper recognition for their work, but the proper wages as well.

The real heroes of the Baltoro and trekking in Pakistan. These men are more humble than anyone you will ever meet and never ask for much, working hard for tourists to enjoy their holidays always with a smile on their face. They eat only chapatti and chai and sleep under plastic sheets all to barely make a wage to support their families. Part of our work @movingmntns_ is to bring change to the industry and with that, increase pay for the most vulnerable among us.
